Barbara heads our Divorce and Finance Team. She is a specialist family lawyer, accredited by Resolution, first for family law, www.resolution.org.uk in the areas of Complex Financial Property and Pensions on Divorce and is currently the only Resolution accredited pensions specialist lawyer in Lancashire. She qualified as a solicitor in 1995, initially working in Carlisle and moved to work in Lancaster in 1997 where she developed her expertise in family law. Alongside our late partner, Andie Brown, she became a member of the Law Society’s Family Law Accreditation Scheme when it began in 1999. From 2005, Barbara led a successful family law team in Kendal for 12 years. She returned to work in Lancaster in 2017 and is now based at our Lancaster office and available to meet clients at our Preston office. Barbara knows Preston well as she attended Penwortham Girls’ High School and worked at Preston County Court before qualifying. Barbara is a member of Resolution and Chairs the Lancashire and Cumbria Resolution Committee. She is committed to addressing the resolution of issues on divorce and separation with a constructive approach. She is also experienced in representing clients at round table meetings, helping separated couples reach agreed solutions and better outcomes.

    Divorce Process

    I was assisted through the divorce process by Barbara Richardson at BSG Solicitors. Barbara’s advice at critical junctures was invaluable and timely and her calm and quiet self assurance inspired a confidence to move forward positively in what was a very difficult, stressful and potentially volatile situation.
