I am Bristol based, so I hired PatchLaw as they are local to me. I used them twice; once when I was an employee going through a grievance claim against my employer and again when I was an employer and had a contractual issue with an ex-employee in my new company. I found both Gillian & Sonia to be extremely knowledgeable and their advice & experience in these difficult negotiations was invaluable. Additionally, they helped me strengthen my employee contracts, so that if I sell my company, these contracts pass due-diligence and they helped me clawback costs from the ex-employee, which covered their fees. Finally I would like to take a moment to thank you for all of your help on this matter! Being made redundant is really stressful and when presented with a lot of legal documentation I am unfamiliar with only adds to the pain of the situation it was reassuring to have you supporting me. So I just wanted to reiterate my thanks for your patience, openness and willingness to spend the time to explain and expand on my options in my time of need. I have left this process feeling assured that I made the right informed decisions and for that I cannot thank you enough!

Although we didn’t get the outcome we hope for, I was given expert and positive advice. Employment law is very tied up in a pretty bow on the side of the employer from my experience. Sonia was extremely clear and compassionate talking me through a settlement agreement. She was also very efficient and was able to get everything sorted quickly which really helped .

I found the discussion I had with the solicitor was extremity useful. Sufficient information, both verbal and written, was provided was to allow me to represent myself at my forthcoming Redundancy Tribunal.

Overall positive experience. I instructed the firm to advise me on a Settlement Agreement with my long standing employers when I had to leave following a long illness. Their advice has helpful and fully explained; plus their fees were reasonable. The only point I would make is a recommendation, not a complaint. It was necessary to do a thorough review of the agreement and my contract of employment, which was done over the phone with us each having to have multiple documents on screen or printed. Surely, in this day and age, it would be better to use Microsoft Teams, so that single copies of the document can be screen shared and then everyone understands exactly which part we are discussing. That aside, I would recommend them to anyone in my situation.

Highly recommend Sonia at Patch Law. I used their standard initial advice service, which allowed me to submit up to 10 documents and have a follow-up phone consultation to discuss my case in detail. Sonia went above and beyond. She arranged to advise me on her day off with less than 24 hours’ notice when I urgently needed help. She was professional, knowledgeable, and genuinely caring throughout the process. Her advice was clear, practical, and gave me real confidence moving forward. Sonia took the time to listen, understand all the details, and explain my options in a way that made sense. I truly felt supported and that my case mattered to her. Most importantly, Sonia’s advice led to my previous employer increasing their settlement offer substantially and settling my case before a tribunal was needed.
