We have recently found out from our mortgage provider that the reason our mortgage transfer went so badly wrong was because our solicitor sat on easily completed paperwork for nearly 4 months. Because of this my wife had a house purchase fall through and lost over a thousand pounds and our lifes have been turned upside-down.
