My sister reached out with an enquiry on our behalf regarding a Land Registry requisition, whereby HMLR had asked for a few amendments to an existing application I had completed myself. Instead of simply responding that they would not be able to take on the case as a review, and would need to complete a new application and provide a price for this, she received a rather rude and insensitive response from Jonathan. To quote: “I don’t think you’ll be surprised by the response that we don’t accept engagements to sort-out d.i.y. legal messes lay-people cause themselves.” Considering that the application relates to the loss of our mother, which my sister explained in her original enquiry, and our having to deal with her estate, I found this response incredibly crass and genuinely upsetting. Moreover, the requisition asked for a few relatively simple amendments, which another solicitor was perfectly happy to review and subsequently confirmed I had completed correctly, so it was certainly not the “legal mess” it was made out to be. Very disappointing overall. I couldn’t let this pass without leaving a review, as I found the way my sister’s enquiry was handled completely unacceptable.
