Commercial property work in the wake of Covid-19 covers how leases, rent, and property rights adapt to lingering restrictions and vacancies, and how negotiations or disputes are handled when businesses pause, economise or restructure. A solicitor in this area drafts or revises leases, negotiates rent relief, deferral agreements and break options, and advises on remedies for arrears, service charges, and dilapidations, often coordinating with landlords, tenants, lenders and insolvency specialists. The focus is on stabilising occupancy and protecting valuable property assets.
The work involves negotiating and drafting lease amendments, rent relief, and break or renewal options, as well as advising on arrears, restructures, and potential insolvency impacts for tenants or landlords. It requires understanding lease terms, secured lending, and cross-border or multi-tenant implications, with attention to evolving government guidance and commercial real estate markets.
