Development agreements cover arrangements between a landowner and a developer to bring a site forward for development, typically balancing land control, timing, finance, and the delivery of infrastructure or planning permissions. A solicitor drafts, negotiates, and finalises the terms, including planning obligations, infrastructure contributions, conditions precedent, and risk allocation, and coordinates with the land registry to register the deal. They also advise on due diligence, title issues, securities, and discharge of planning conditions if needed, and liaise with planning authorities and lenders throughout the project.
