I found Madeleine through the Centre for Women’s Justice website and I’m so grateful that I did. My case was a serious offence and could have had a huge impact on both my daughter and my career. I needed a solicitor who understood domestic abuse and coercive control, and Madeleine’s knowledge and experience immediately stood out. From the beginning, she was supportive, reassuring, and always willing to help, even before my legal aid was approved. I was not charged by the CPS until around 13 months after my arrest, but throughout that time Madeleine still took action on my behalf. She contacted the police about any concerns I had, successfully requested changes to some of my bail conditions. Even while my case was still an active investigation, she successfully arranged for some of my property to be returned to me. Once I was charged, Madeleine helped me with my legal aid application and regularly met with me to prepare my defence. She took the time to listen to me and I felt supported throughout the whole process. The CPS discontinued proceedings against me just before my second plea hearing at Crown Court. I cannot explain the relief I feel, and I’m now able to move forward and rebuild my life with my daughter. I truly believe Madeleine’s expertise and dedication made all the difference to the outcome of my case, and I will always be thankful for her support.
