In England a conviction case covers post‑trial relief such as appeals against a guilty verdict or against the sentence imposed, and related applications. A solicitor practising in this area helps clients understand grounds of appeal, deadlines and court rules, and shepherds the process from filing grounds of appeal to attending appeal hearings. They may gather fresh evidence, draft skeleton arguments, and coordinate with the Crown Prosecution Service and the judges or panels hearing the appeal to seek quashing or reduction of sentence.
