Block management covers the running of multi‑occupancy buildings such as flats and purpose‑built communities. It involves coordinating service charges, maintenance of common parts, insurance, and compliance with lease terms. A solicitor in this area typically drafts and reviews service charge schedules and service contracts, helps appoint and oversee a managing agent, handles disputes with leaseholders or residents, and assists with rights to manage or collective enfranchisement where appropriate. The work shapes how blocks stay safe, well maintained and financially sound.
The duties hinge on timely repairs, accurate service charges and the proper governance of the management company or residents’ association. Failures can affect a person’s home quality, financial exposure from levies, and long‑term value of the property, with potential disputes over charges, neglect, or mismanagement.

Tagged solicitor Harvey West
Harvey West and Heather Burgess have been outstanding in assisting us with selling a flat that needed a lease drawn up. If we emailed we were given a reply, sounds simple....but it means you know where you are and what needs to be done etc etc. It kept us relaxed when it was not straight forward.. they could also think outside of 'the box'. If our buyers conveyancer did not have the qualifications to convey a new lease just imagine how hard it is to write one !
