Lease Problems and Extensions covers issues arising when a flat or house held on a long lease faces renewal, extension or disputes over terms. It includes negotiating statutory or negotiated lease extensions, handling peppercorn premiums, serving and replying to extension notices, and dealing with rent reviews, service charges, forfeiture, assignments and subletting. A solicitor helps draft and negotiate extensions, respond to landlord or management company actions, and manage registration of the extended lease at the Land Registry, plus any required tribunal or court steps if agreement cannot be reached.
