Leasehold reform work deals with rights to extend a lease or to buy the freehold of a property where you own a lease. A solicitor handles the process by drafting and serving the statutory notices, negotiating with the landlord, arranging valuations, and coordinating any required court or tribunal steps to determine price or terms. They also manage counter-notices, gather evidence of occupancy and ownership, and protect deadlines to keep rights alive.
The act creates formal, time‑bound steps: you must serve notices by strict deadlines, and delays can forfeit rights or reset the process. A solicitor ensures accurate notices, guides valuation disputes, and argues your position in any resulting proceedings, such as a tribunal hearing, safeguarding your ability to extend the lease or acquire the freehold.

This is the second time I have used Greenwoods. I first used them back in 2020 when I purchased my first house and they were amazing then. I have just used them for a sale and purchase transaction and they have been faultless. They are good at communicating and they happily answer any questions you have. Any jargon that needs clarifying, just ask and they will happily explain what things means. I would definitely use Greenwoods again.

I was very uncertain about which direction to take when I first sought advice from Fay, but her assertive, clear manner immediately helped me find clarity. She speaks with confidence, and it shows in the way she frames her answers — direct, structured, and genuinely reassuring. Her guidance made my decision‑making straightforward, and I left the one‑hour consultation feeling informed, supported, and relieved. I’m delighted with the service I received and would happily recommend her to anyone seeking clear, confident legal advice.
