Top 10 of 4,693 law firms for Jointly Owned Property, Housing & Property

Law firms ranked by client reviews

Jointly owned property covers situations where two or more people own a home together. It includes determining each owner’s share, resolving disputes about occupation or use, and dealing with transfers of equity or changes to ownership. A solicitor in this area helps you prepare and register deeds of trust or other documents to reflect the true ownership, sever a joint tenancy if required, and negotiate settlements when relationships change or one owner wants to buy out another. They may also assist with mortgage matters, registrations with HM Land Registry, and, where needed, enforcement or dispute resolution. This work is often shaped by how the property is held (joint tenancy or tenancy in common) and by any existing financial or familial obligations among the owners.

Where a solicitor protects your position

A change in ownership can lock in irreversible consequences, such as how shares are treated on sale or death. A solicitor explains the risks of each ownership structure, ensures the ownership split is correctly recorded, and facilitates actions like severing a joint tenancy or drafting a comprehensive deeds of trust to protect interests and rights of all parties.

Could not fault BTMK from start to end. they were not the cheapest quote i received (not a huge amount of difference), but offering a no-sale no-fee service was key to me. Selling a leasehold flat was not going to be easy and i had a sale had fall through 5 years ago - using a different solicitor - so i was keen to make sure i wasnt paying a whole fee if the sale fell through again. i firmly believe you get what you pay for with solicitors and the team were excellent. They were easily reachable by phone and email through a very challenging process. i was the middle part of a short chain but the people at either end proved difficult to deal with. i would definitely use BTMK again and would definitely recommend them to anyone planning to buy/sell. Even dealing with my management company and freeholder, they managed to get the whole process of a sale and purchase through a lot quicker than anyone expected. 10/10 highly recommend them

Natalie Woods

Tagged solicitor Natalie Woods

Natalie at Howard and Over provided excellent, prompt service to us and the sale went very smoothly. We had two purchasers who withdrew before the final sale and there were three separate owners of our property who had to be involved in all the decisions and sign offs. Natalie dealt with this without any delays and provided excellent value for money.
