The Free Will Service covers drafting and updating Wills so individuals can choose who inherits their estate, appoint executors, and plan for guardianship of dependents. A solicitor in this area drafts clear, legally valid provisions, reviews existing Wills for changes in circumstances, and advises on potential tax implications andLifetime gifts to ensure the document reflects the client’s wishes after death.
The solicitor ensures the Will is legally valid, correctly executed, and properly witnessed, preventing common errors that could jeopardise a claim or cause a loved one to contest the Will. They explain the consequences of different bequests, ensure executors are capable, and confirm the document aligns with any relevant lifetime arrangements and tax considerations.

Hilary Coles from Maitland Walker Solicitors handled 2 inherited property sales for me. Both of which were complicated and drawn out. Hilary dealt with any and all issues in a professional manner, she always returned my calls, answered my emails, kept me updated throughout and made what could have been a very stressful time into an acceptable experience. I would thoroughly recommend Maitland Walker to anyone.
