A simple will covers how someone’s assets are arranged to be passed on after death, typically with a straightforward set of gifts and a single or a couple of executors. A solicitor drafts and amends the document, checks that it clearly expresses the testator’s wishes, and ensures formal validity, including proper signing and witnessing. They review who should benefit, appoint guardians for any minor children, and consider basic tax and debt issues so the will operates smoothly when probate is sought.
The will must be executed correctly to avoid disputes or invalidity, and the testator’s instructions will determine who administers the estate and how assets are distributed. Drafting safeguards include clear allocation of gifts, identification of executors, and consideration of potential challenges or claims against the estate. A solicitor’s involvement helps ensure the document reflects the testator’s wishes and stands up to scrutiny in probate.

Having approached another company about making new wills we were given a, not too easy to understand brochure to read. When we rang HWH we were given an appointment straight away. The meeting was friendly and efficient with all our questions being sorted. The wills were ready to sign within a week.

I can’t recommend Lucy highly enough. She was knowledgeable, thorough, kind, patient and kept us on course right through. No fuss but clear information, documentation and advice when we needed it. We had so many things to juggle but she was our quiet competent calm in the storm. Even the cost, which we feared, was reasonable and clear. Thank you so very much Lucy. You are truly exceptional and we are so grateful to you for getting us through this.
