This area covers end‑of‑life planning and the management of a deceased person’s affairs, including making wills, setting up trusts and handling probate. A solicitor in this field drafts and reviews wills, arranges executorships, recommends trusts to manage assets, and guides executors through applying for a grant of probate or letters of administration, proving the will, collecting assets, paying debts, and distributing the estate under the rules of intestacy where needed. They also advise on disputes, guardianships, and estate administration, where timeliness and accuracy affect beneficiaries and tax.
