Terrible experience! We were offered free legals with a remortgage. We said why not...worse mistake ever!!
They are so slow that nothing gets done.
They lie when you call for an update.
We had to close the file with them after a month of waiting.
Moved the file to our main solicitors and they got everything done on the day of receiving the mortgage offer!!
NEVER EVER WILL WE DEAL WITH OPTIMA LEGAL!!!
THEY SHOULD GET STRUCK OFF!!!

Optima were engaged by Birmingham Midshires to complete a buy to let mortgage application and also a transfer of equity from my ex wife as I was keeping the btl in my own name. The mortgage process was slow but vaguely acceptable, but the handling of the equity transfer was shocking. The teams seem to have no joined up thinking and patently either ignore notes or they are never written. Error after error, comprehensive explanations ignored and the same questions asked numerous times, the portal seems to never be updated, 10 days deemed acceptable to read an e mail and even longer to respond. Overall the experience was dire, my broker has escalated a complaint, I won't bother as I expect it will be ignored anyway and beyond this review I want nothing to do with them under any circumstances. Please avoid at all costs.

We began out change if equity in January following me and my partner splitting up.
We were told this would take up to 2 months so my partner put an offer in on a new home.
This company are extremely slow communicating with you, they take forever to recieve documents and flag there are issues, they do not offer any guidance or support to fill forms in correctly, do not respond via email or phone and send incorrect forms.
My partner is now about to be come homeless as his house sale is about to fall through die to the amount if tine it has taken fir our change of equity to be completed.
This had been raised with optima multiple times over the past few weeks and they haven't even had the decency to respond.

They have been doing our remortgage for months now. The simple matter of verifying identity has proved impossible. We have been to a court house, solicitor twice and The Halifax about 15 times. Still unresolved months later. Save your money and use other solicitors.

Slow and incompeten.t I would not recommend in the slightest

In the process of remortgaging with Barclays and this company is responsible for the legal side of things. I'm having to ring them on a daily basis so that they update the portal accordingly. I'm having to do the liaising between them and Halifax. I've been given incorrect information and am being told different things on different days by case workers. Indifferent attitude by whoever answers the phone and lack of interest in the case.

Dealing with Optima Legal has been one of the most painful and worst experiences I have ever encountered. They are unhelpful, ignorant, incorrect, unprofessional and useless, quite frankly.

I would recommend, if you are thinking of dealing with them, or if you are told they are a “preferred” solicitor for your mortgage, walk away. Walk away now. Insist you do not want to use these complete morons. Even if it means paying more on your monthly payments, it will mean less heartache, stress and dealing with a company where every single thing will go wrong.

My complaint has gone to MD, CEO and their complaints division 10 days ago. Not once have they bothered to contact me or even apologise. They don’t give a monkeys about helping me, and they won’t about you either.

This has cost me days of work having to manage this, stress leave and lack of sleep.

Had I not been absolutely all over this, this would have cost me thousands of pounds for their consistent bad handling of my case. I have written to Barclays, also, to ask them to remove Optima Legal and do not allow their customers to work with them. They are THAT bad to deal with.

My experiences with them include:

* Having to send the mortgage deed 3 times to them as they lost the previous 2 mortgage deeds
* Failing to point out that they were moving offices until I had to send this for a 3rd time upon chasing
* Not telling me that they hadn’t recieved the mortgage deeds, despite the fact this was a matter of urgency and I had sent messages saying this had been done on numerous occasions
* With the above they are in breach of the Data Protection Act by not securely handling personal information, not acknowledging this once
* Refusing to update their portal once this finally been received despite eight (8) chases for them to do so, so completion date could be set
* Quoting time and time again incorrect shortfall balances to be sent
* Being told they will call you - they don’t. Don’t bother calling them, you can’t.

Their reviews are appalling for a reason. You deserve better than to have to use these cowboys - demand better. You deserve it. You will regret for every day whilst going through this process having to deal with Optima Legal. Do not do it.

very poor ,has taken way to long as they have dragged their feet all the way despite numerous phone calls ,even after being made a priority (twice) they still failed our deadline despite receiving our correspondence within 24 hrs every time, its been requested. these solicitors just don't care about the little guys
