Having gained considerable criminal experience in a large regional practice, John moved to concentrate on business crime and regulatory practice at Ashton Morton Slack, Cartwright King and then Irwin Mitchell before joining rradar in August 2022. After a relatively short stay at rradar concentrating on insurance backed regulatory and risk advisory work, John has now brought his wealth of experience to MSB. Having amassed over 20 years of criminal practice, John has defended individuals and organisations in matters brought by the full range of prosecuting authorities including the Crown Prosecution Service, the Serious Fraud Office, the Financial Conduct Authority, HMRC, the Health and Safety Executive and the Environment Agency to name but a few. John has been involved in some landmark cases including a leading SFO bribery case that saw the first human defendants acquitted after trial, this following the agreement of a Deferred Prosecution Agreement or ‘DPA’. John has defended countless motorists charged with offences ranging from death by dangerous driving to driving without due care and has defended in other transport cases involving the DVSA, the Traffic Commissioner and even the Civil Aviation Authority. What sets John aside from others in this field is that before moving into the legal profession, he worked for a number of market leading companies in management roles. This has enabled him to adopt a strong commercial perspective when dealing with companies and corporate clients. John will advise and represent individuals, and companies, at the Police Station and at the Magistrates’ Court. Professional clients have also had difficult experiences with regulatory bodies such as ACCA, the General Pharmaceutical Council and the UK Council of Psychotherapists successfully managed with representations John made on their behalf. Colleagues have spoken of John’s knowledge, attention to detail and his client care. Clients have spoken of the calming effect John has on them and the support he gives as well as dealing with the legal aspects of the case. In many ways John represents the old fashioned style with a modern twist in the way he handles his clients and their cases.
