Great experience, yet again, with Goughs.
I have been extremely impressed with Goughs throughout the purchase of my buy-to-let flat, and particularly with Jessica Kissell, who handled my conveyancing. It turned out to be a rather more complicated purchase than any of us had anticipated, including issues with the existing lease which ultimately required a Deed of Variation. Jess was thorough, persistent and very clear in her advice throughout. I particularly appreciated that she wasn't prepared to accept a proposed solution simply because it would have been quicker; she made sure the Deed of Variation properly addressed the problems with the lease and protected me for the future. Communication was excellent. I always felt that I knew where things stood, my questions were answered clearly and sensibly, and I was warned in advance whenever there might be an additional cost. Even when Jess was on annual leave towards the end of the transaction, everything continued smoothly with her colleagues. Despite the additional work involved, the final bill was also very close to the original estimate, with the extra legal work relating to the Deed of Variation clearly identified and very reasonably charged. Buying a property is inevitably a slightly nerve-racking process, particularly when unexpected complications arise, but I felt throughout that Jess was firmly on my side and paying attention to the details that mattered. I would have no hesitation in using Goughs again or recommending Jess to others.
