Clare James

Clare has been a very understanding solicitor. She listened and was able to relay my words and thoughts to the courts. She has been very supportive and I felt in safe hands. My case was not typical and was based on mental health. Clare absolutely understood this and was able to adapt accordingly rather than run her own narrative. I did not get to choose Clare, as she was a duty solicitor. But I feel very lucky and very blessed to have had her represent me.

Clare James

Claire James represented me at Chesterfield Police Station on the 14.06.2022. This woman was not experienced in knowing the law. Or how to properly communicate and represent a client at the police station. She’s uneducated and very naive for a solicitor. Claire represented me on a matter firstly What shocked initially about this women’s behaviour towards me. She took it upon herself to tell me before the interview that the other party wanted to push for prosecution. When I’d explained to her my actions were self defence and nothing more and this was all caused by the other two parties involved in this. Secondly when the police officer put allegations to me of injuries on the other party. But told me that the other party refused to show these injuries and that they had no photographic evidence. Claire did not speak up on my behalf as she should have. Claire sat in the caution interview and said nothing on my behalf to this. In fact Claire said nothing throughout the entire interview. She just sat there on her laptop and writing. Looking forward. The other party also lied to the police about me in their interview and made false allegations against me which I also made clear to Claire in the interview. The police messed up the caution interview regards to the fingerprints. They did not follow PACE guidelines or the law regarding this. So I chose to ignore them when they made further contact with me afterwards. I explained this to Claire who advised me to cooperate with the police. I also told Claire that the police were going to take me to court if I didn’t accept the caution. I said to her but how are they going to do that when the other party refused to show their injuries and had lied under oath to the police about me in an interview. She was no help to me. I kept thinking why are you here? You serve no purpose if you aren’t going to defend me as your client. She didn’t defend me once as her client or put all of these valid questions I had put to her to the police. I was confused if this individual was even a qualified solicitor at this point. I don’t think she is or ever was. I put all of my complaints and questions to Claire in an email. She didn’t answer any of my questions and just told me if I wanted to complain to contact Elliott Mather. I put all of my concerns and complaints in an email to her boss at the solicitor Alan Grant. I didn’t receive any response from him. In closing please don’t use Elliott Mather about them and avoid Claire James. I would give this company zero out of ten on everything.
