Owen is a highly skilled and experienced employment lawyer. He is a Partner in the firm’s widely-regarded employment team and advises employers and employees on a wide range of employment law issues.
He has extensive experience of bringing and defending complex and high-value Employment Tribunal claims, and has been involved in several successful and high-profile discrimination and unfair dismissal claims reported widely in the national media.
He also regularly advises well-known and large-scale employers in the private, public, and third sectors on employment law issues as diverse as contractual disputes, disciplinaries and grievances, changing terms and conditions and dismissals. He also advises on restructures, discrimination, drafting contractual documents, TUPE and data protection. Owen also draws on his wealth of experience to advise and assist individuals and senior executives with their employment disputes.
Owen is very experienced at delivering training on employment law and HR, to clients and to wider audiences, and is a regular contributor to the national media, on television and radio, on employment law and HR matters.
A fluent Welsh-speaker, he regularly advises clients through the medium of Welsh and is one of the co-founders of Cyfreithwyr.com, a first-of-its kind Welsh language legal service.

Responsive and knowledgeable
Owen John is an experienced and highly skilled employment lawyer. Equally adept at advising from an employer or an employee perspective. He is responsive and focuses on providing clear and realistic advice. Great service, great advice and great people

Always efficient and helpful service with expert legal knowledge.
We have worked with Darwin Gray for several years tapping into different departments including property, commercial and HR so we can confidently say that they are an outstanding firm to do business with.

Professional, Personable and Trustworthy
I contacted Darwin Gray to deal with a subject to contract offer from an employer. I was immediately contacted by Owen, who listened thoroughly and immediately got to work. Throughout the process he kept me informed, with regular contact by email and phone, even on a bank holiday! Would thoroughly recommend Owen and Darwin Gray to anyone, and i will absolutely call them in the future should the need arise.

Fast, efficient and sensible advice
I contacted Darwin Gray solicitor based on a recommendation from my wife's colleague. I submitted a query online and in less than 10mins had a direct phone call with Owen John to arrange a follow up call to confirm the suitability of the firm to continue (as my case was based in Scotland). After email confirmation a detailed call was setup for the following afternoon which lasted more than an hour to go through the details of my case. Owen gave me very sensible practical advice and guidance on how best to approach my situation and provided a response for me the same day. After additional discussion between Owen and the company after only 2 days the situation was resolved and a final agreement reached. Great service and expediency from Owen and a no-nonsense approach. Would highly recommend their services based on their knowledge and experience for both employers and employees.

Settlement agreement/ redundancy.
I directly approached Owen John to represent me in a redundancy/settlement process, as my husband has previously used his services.
Owen made the process as painless as possible under what were difficult circumstances for me. This meant that I was able to move forwards very rapidly without any stress or confusion and I greatly appreciate this.
