Gemma studied Law at the University of Liverpool and graduated in 2003 with a 2:1 degree. She went on to study the Legal Practice Course (LPC) at College of Law, Chester and achieved a Distinction. She qualified as a solicitor in 2006 and has specialised in Private Client work since qualification. Gemma deals with a wide range of Private Client matters. She has drafted many and varied Wills and enjoys helping clients with a subject they have often ‘put off’ for years and which they are relieved to have completed once the Will is signed. Gemma also deals with probate applications and administering estates. A particular success was claiming an inheritance tax refund for an estate in which she managed to link the deceased’s cause of death to a war injury he had sustained decades earlier as a young man, resulting in a refund of circa £20,000 to his estate. She also deals with Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPAs) and Court of Protection applications.

    Work completed on estates of lost relatives.

    Overall the the was conducted in a professional manner. Updates and progress was well maintained. I do fell however that the Uk Government demanding payment on taxes within their time scales was totally unfair especially when funds had not been realised by the beneficiaries. I really question the efficiencies of the departments responsible in carrying out their work knowing that employees are privileged working at home and many on a 4 day week.
