Efficient and friendly to work with

We do not move house often and regulations change over the years. We therefore approached our recent move with some trepidation. However, we found Nicola, Anna and their colleagues at Bartons were knowledgeable and on the ball as well as being very approachable. They explained things clearly, backed it up with relevant information and steered us gently through the necessary paperwork. One sometimes comes across efficient people who are good at their job, and sometimes people who are friendly; to get both together is less common and very welcome.

Excellent Service

I used Barton's for the selling and purchase of my house. They were very professional and I felt at ease dealing with them. Daniel my lawyer was exceptional. The response to any emails I sent was almost immediate even though often out of hours. I found Daniel to be very thorough and dealt quickly with any issues I had.
The report on my purchase was very detailed. This is helpful when wondering if you are doing the right thing.
I thought the price I paid was very good and didn't think it expensive.
I would definitely recommend them and won't hesitate to use them again if I need someone.

Disappointing Conveyancing Service

Took a long time for a simple, straightforward conveyance. Process affected by poor cover during holiday absences. Needed prompting and then charged for the resultant extra work. Seemed to be on the other side at times. Lost documents due to substandard postal procedures. Little or no telephone contact. Expected better due to not opting for cheaper comparison site alternatives.
Good point was ‘report and actions summary’ which provided clarity and guidance for the client

We used Barton’s to purchase a house in Dartmouth. They were incredibly professional , diligent and responsive. Nothing was too much trouble and this particular purchased proved challenging. We would recommend anyone who needs a solicitor in Devon or wherever they have an office to use them.Claire and Jane were so calm and soothed a safe passage from conception to completion. Can’t thank them enough.

Highly Professional and Efficient Service

With conveyancing, you very much get what you pay for and mistakes and oversights at this vital stage can prove very expensive down the line. Bartons do their very best to prevent this from happening. They will not accept woolly answers from the other side and will seek clarification and documentation. If there is any doubt about, for instance, a right of way or the lack of planning permission on an extension, they will arrange an indemnity policy to cover any potential liability you might incur. The service is always friendly and accommodating. You deal with a real and friendly person and rapidly establish a professional relationship with that person such that you feel comfortable raising any concerns which will always receive a quick response, sometimes out of office hours. Fees are reasonable for the service provided. I would be very worried if they were the cheapest in town. I'm on my third transaction with them in four months and I have not been disappointed. I'm recommending Bartons to anyone who has been dissatisfied with their previous solicitors.

First Class Conveyancing

Claire Reynolds has been my conveyancing solicitor over a number of years through various property sale/purchase/transfer scenarios. It is no accident that I keep going back to Claire. She is the best property lawyer I have encountered and I have recommended her to many friends and colleagues. Friendly, wise and knowledgeable with terrific experience in the property scene, Claire and her superb team leave no stone un-turned. And Claire has an essential but (in my previous experience of property lawyers) rare quality - a highly developed sense of urgency. She gets things done. Look no further...

Slow and unhelpful

Bartons are terribly difficult to deal with. Very slow and not helpful. I used them because the mortgage company gave me so few options but really unimpressed

Conveyancing matters

Wow, the best ever solicitor I have used for conveyancing. I worked in the industry for many years and understand the pressures and environment that solicitors work within. The communication from the solicitor was every other day, always with a pleasant demeanour. I felt I was looked after and that I mattered. My frustrations were heard and dealt with cordially, immediately and effectively. Brilliant service. Will never use any one else.
