My experience, even given the relatively modest complexity of my matter, was appalling. In my view, the work I instructed him to undertake was beyond what he could handle effectively, yet I continued to incur substantial fees while important issues remained inadequately addressed. What I found equally troubling was the way the matter was handled after payment. Before payment, I found him attentive, reassuring and highly responsive. Afterwards, my experience changed dramatically. Messages went unanswered, responses became difficult to obtain, and I repeatedly had to chase for work, advice and answers that I believed should already have been provided. I was particularly unhappy at being charged for communications that arose because I had repeatedly needed to chase for responses or progress. In my view, that was completely unacceptable. Throughout the instruction, I felt there was too much focus on further discussions, meetings and additional charges, rather than completing the substantive work I had already paid for. If invited to attend the office, I would recommend establishing beforehand exactly what the meeting is for, what work has already been paid for and whether any additional fee will be requested. The courteous wording of emails did not reflect my overall experience of the service. I found the handling of my matter dismissive, extremely stressful and deeply disappointing. Since instructing another firm, the contrast in communication, organisation and handling of the work has been enormous. It has made me appreciate just how poor my previous experience was. Professionally, financially and emotionally, this was one of the worst experiences I have had with a professional adviser. I would never instruct him again and, based entirely on my own experience, would not recommend him for anything other than the most straightforward instructions.
