Excellent customer service!

Very professional service and very responsive even messaging out of hours. We had a very challenging seller and Jo pulled out all the stops to make this as seamless as possible. Thank you for your help.

Awful after service

Ok while buying my property but then found out they didn’t put a retention in place! Contacted them multiple times when I received a service charge bill from before I brought the property! Joanne Quarry just ignores you constantly once the sale is done and they have been paid!! Would definitely not use again, they’re meant to have the knowledge and to look out for their clients, which they obviously weren’t doing when they didn’t request a retention. I was a first time buyer so it was all very new for me, lesson learnt.

Avoid at all costs

Terrible experience selling my property through Melia Mumford. I was placed with them when I signed up with Lifetime Legal. Interestingly, Lifetime Legal and Romans estate agents get almost £1000 in finders fees. My sale took over six months to complete. No chain, first time buyer and fairly straight forward. Finally completed on the same day that the buyers mortgage offer was due to expire. Needlessly stressful. I had to bypass my solicitor, obtain management packs myself, and send them to the estate agent to forward to the buyers solicitor. (A Fire Risk Assessment was not included with the management pack and this did cause delays - not Melia Mumford’s fault). My solicitor was not available to speak on the phone and failed return messages. Emails took forever to answer many were never answered. I was not kept up to date throughout. Melia Mumford only started to respond promptly once I had made a formal complaint. I was given the wrong completion date - emailed late in the evening to say exchange and completion the next day - it did not happen until the day after that. I was told the estate agent gave the wrong date.
Customer service did improve once I had made a formal complaint to the senior partner Alan Tulip. Unfortunately, he failed to follow his own company’s complaints policy - to arrange a meeting to discuss the complaint within 14 days. I had to send multiple messages about my complaint before eventually being offered a reduction in fees. No meeting was ever offered.
I get the feeling that this company are unable to deal with the number of clients they take on. I would certainly not recommend Melia Mumford.
Since posting my complaint I have been given more information about the cause of early delays (buyer changed named solicitor, but stayed with the same firm, in May). If this caused delays I should have been told at the time, or when I made my complaint

AVOID

Took nearly 6 months from the buyer making an offer to when the sale actually went through. I was the seller. No chain on either side. First time buyer. It should have been straightforward. I'm assuming the buyer wasn't dragging their feet as they were keen to complete the purchase also. Impossible to get any sort of update in a meaningful timeframe. It shouldn't take 5 - 6 months to close on a property once a buyer has made an offer that has been accepted by the seller. Ridiculous.

Unproffessional, and no communication

I had Melia Mumford do my purcahse and Sales, from the start to finish , i must hav sent over 300 emails. With 5 replies. No one calls you back on the phone.. hardly any responses from Joann Quarry. Totally unreliable. I would recommend looking for a solicitor that is responsive and communicates with their client to feel confrtable every step of the way . I have had to make complaints and several phone calls wasting my time just to get a response. I do not recommend Melia Mumford. (quick to collect your money, and after that lack of responses!!)

Stay Clear

Do not make the mistake of using this solicitors. Overcharged their quote, unprofessional with phone calls and emails. The phone calls I was referred to as 'love' and emails were completely informal as though I was receiving a text message. The solicitors then didn't invoice me for months and when they did it was completely overcharged. They then threatened to involve the law unless I didn't pay immediately despite only a few days passing. Do not waste your time and money.

Avoid if first time buyers.

Me and my partner were very excited to buy our first home together, however our bubble was quickly burst by this firm. We were recommended RAW Clark by our mortgage advisor so we thought they would be brilliant, how wrong we were. From the very get go we were treated as a nuisance. As first time buyers, we were very nervous and had lots of questions we had no clue how any of it worked or how we did things, every questioned I asked was answered as if I should have known the answer. We never had any updates and our portal was only updated when I rang up to ask. I only spoke to my actually solicitor once throughout the whole process as I could hardly get through the receptionists telling me they could answer my questions or my solicitor was to busy to talk to me and they would call me back in which they never would. We got sent all our documents to sign and send back, one of our main documents was missed off and when we did receive it and we signed it we were told we signed it wrong and had to re sign and send back again. We had no idea how to sign the document as we were not guided through it, in the end I refused to sign it until I was shown how to do it correctly. All this cost me a lot of money to send everything back to them each time. There was never an apology for anything. On our completion day we just got a simply blunt email to say ‘we have completed’ and that was the end for us. As a young couple buying their first house, we were so disheartened and let down by this soliciting firm, to be treated as a nuisance by your solicitors who not only you are paying an awful lot of money to, but you are putting your future house in their hands is so wrong. I understand we were not the only clients and they are a busy company, but we were never given the time of day. You should not take on so many cases if you can’t give your clients even 5 minutes of your day. They completely took away the excitement in this experience for us and I would highly recommend that if you are buying your first house and want a kind, caring and compassionate company who you are no trouble to stay well clear of RAW Clark and Co.

Terrible experience

Avoid this solicitor, awful service we wait 6 months to get moved when we got told it should be sorted in 3 months. We had to keep phoning and pushing them to do searches and inquiries. The staff are rude when you try to talk to them and that's if you get a chance to speak to anyone half the time they would say they would ring you back and nothing.
