Wardship cases concern adults who lack capacity to make their own welfare or financial decisions, handled through the Court of Protection and deputyship. A solicitor acts for family members, trusted contacts, or the proposed deputy, advising on capacity assessments, applying to the Court of Protection for a deputyship order, drafting and submitting the necessary forms, gathering medical and financial information, and coordinating welfare and cash decisions under a court-approved plan. They also manage ongoing reporting to the Office of the Public Guardian and resolve disputes about decisions or capacity.

“Two years ago I used the services of Slater Heelis to arrange a Capacity Assessment for my sister and just recently a Deed of Variation for her will. Prior to that I had used the services of Towns Neesham, a firm who later joined with SLater Heelis, where they had dealt with the purchase of father's house, the subsequent transfer of ownership to my sister, prepared my sisters will and later dealt with the sale of her house. I have every confidence in the excellent services and guidance given by the Slater Heelis solicitors and I would use the firm again.”
