This area covers what happens before a person is charged with a crime, including early police interview advice and decisions about bail and next steps. A solicitor in England who practises pre-charge work helps a client understand the rights during custody, attends police stations, advises on potential cautions, and engages with the Crown Prosecution Service on possible charging options. They also review early disclosure and prepare for future court or tribunal proceedings if charges are brought.

Where a solicitor protects your position

The point at which decisions about whether to charge or release are taken can be decisive and time-sensitive. A solicitor provides guidance around custody interviews, cautions, bail considerations, and early disclosure, supported by professional responsibility, indemnity, and client protection under the solicitors’ regulatory framework.

I hired Wasqas from WA Legal to work on my criminal case and I cannot recommend him enough. From our very first consultation, Wasqas was transparent, highly responsive and took the time to explain every step of a complex legal process in plain English. What stood out was his dedication and calm demeanour during a very stressful time for me. He was quick to answer my questions and kept me fully informed of any updates. If you need a skilled and trustworthy lawyer, who genuinely cares about their clients, then look no further. I would highly recommend this firm.
