Buying a home in England and Wales typically means conveyancing work: checking title, agreeing terms, and handling the transfer of ownership when you buy or sell a property. A solicitor drafts and negotiates the contract, conducts searches, arranges mortgage or cash completion, and handles stamp duty land tax, the transfer deed, and registration at HM Land Registry. They also liaise with the seller’s solicitor, lenders, and local authorities, and resolve any title or boundary issues that arise during the transaction.
The solicitor coordinates searches, negotiates contract terms, checks for any burdens or rights of way, and ensures completion and registration are properly executed. They work with lenders, handle funds securely, and address any defects uncovered before completion. If problems surface—such as title defects or planning concerns—the solicitor advises on options and next steps, including remedies and risk allocation.

Tagged solicitor Laura Moore
I initially contacted Greenwoods to help with the sale and purchase of property in what I had imagined to be a straight forward process. Cutting straight to the point, Laura and her team saved the chain from collapsing and I can't thank them enough for how effective they were. Greenwoods kept me up to date with all the goings on and at no point did I ever feel left in the dark. I was presented with easy to understand forms and guidance and they worked tirelessly to get our sale and purchase over the line. Throughout the process, Laura fought for our best interests and I wouldn't think of using another solicitor again. I cannot recommend them highly enough and I thank my lucky stars I instructed them to work on my behalf.

I was very uncertain about which direction to take when I first sought advice from Fay, but her assertive, clear manner immediately helped me find clarity. She speaks with confidence, and it shows in the way she frames her answers — direct, structured, and genuinely reassuring. Her guidance made my decision‑making straightforward, and I left the one‑hour consultation feeling informed, supported, and relieved. I’m delighted with the service I received and would happily recommend her to anyone seeking clear, confident legal advice.
