This area covers informal negotiations to extend a lease without going through formal statutory procedures, typically by agreeing an amended term with the landlord and documenting it in a deed of variation or deed of amendment. A solicitor practising here drafts the variations, reviews the current lease, advises on how extending the term affects ground rent and other provisions, and negotiates with the landlord or managing agent. The work may be shaped by the tenancy type and the length of the proposed extension, as well as any related rights or covenants in the lease.

I was really grateful to have Emily on my side during my recent separation. We secured a great deal in resolving the dispute with my ex-partner which related to non-equal shares in our home that was owned in joint names without a shareholder agreement.
