I engaged Deborah as my probate solicitor on the death of my only immediate relative who died unexpectedly and without leaving a will. Until shortly before her death we had been living in separate countries for more than 40 years and I knew little about her personal life or financial affairs. And, as someone who had lived abroad for many years, I knew nothing about the UK probate process and had no clue where to start in determining if there was any kind of estate or not. Deborah very patiently led my husband and I through every step of the process, beginning with how to go about determining the extent of the estate and on through the process of liquidating the holdings and advising on my options in distributing the estate proceeds. It was ultimately discovered that the estate was fairly extensive and somewhat complicated due to a mix of personal and commercial property, pensions, bank accounts and investments. Due to this complexity, the process has taken more than 15 months. Throughout this period Deborah has acted proactively and extremely responsively to every situation as it arose working with the probate office, HMRC, and several other solicitors, estate agents and accounting firms in order to complete the process. Throughout this time we were always kept informed immediately of any development.
