Mark is a Consultant in our Corporate & Commercial and Banking & Finance teams. Mark qualified as a solicitor in 1995. He trained as an assistant solicitor at what is now a global firm before spending five years at what is now a transatlantic firm specialising in corporate work. Mark relocated to Suffolk in 2001 and became a corporate partner at what is now a national firm in 2003. He stepped down in 2022 and performed a consultant (marketing) role until 2024. Mark had a break from the law - running his wife and his own (small) business interests - before returning to “lawyering” and joining Ashtons' Corporate team in August 2025. Mark aims to truly look after clients and to really deliver for them, every time. He loves the teamwork needed to get corporate and other such transactions successfully over the line for clients, as well as the privilege of getting to know clients pretty well as part of the process! Legal 500 editions have noted “Mark has that extremely rare combination of 'down to earth' practical advice and highly sophisticated and complex analysis,” as well as “He is solution driven, a great team leader, and was always available”, and “Mark Henry’s skills in managing the transaction to a successful close were frankly outstanding.” Mark has also previously been ranked in the Chambers & Partners guide, with clients praising his commercial mind and attention to detail. Outside of work, Mark enjoys playing tennis, cycling and spending time with his wife, (fairly grown-up) children and family.
