Lisa is a senior associate in our Private Wealth Disputes team, specialising in Contentious Trust and Probate disputes since 2016 and qualifying as a solicitor in 2020. With 10 years of experience, Lisa deals with various Private Wealth Disputes, primarily estate, trust and inheritance disputes, including claims relating to the validity, construction and rectification of Wills, claims under the Inheritance (Provision for Family & Dependants) Act 1975, proprietary estoppel claims, and executor disputes. She also specialises in claims under the Guardianship (Missing Persons) Act 2017, applications for a declaration of presumed death and contentious Court of Protection matters. She advised one of the successful Defendants in the case of James v Scudamore [2023] EWHC 996 (Ch), the leading case on the doctrine of laches, and assisted on the cases of Clitheroe v Bond [2021] EWHC 1102 (Ch) [2022] and EWHC 2203 (Ch) and Wrangle v Brunt [2020] EWCH 1784 (Ch), [2021] 1WLUK 332. Whilst Lisa has acted in reported cases, she has also successfully settled many claims before they reach this stage through mediation. Lisa is an Associate Member of ACTAPS and a member of the Contentious Trusts Association (ConTrA). Lisa’s clients describe her as having a pragmatic and strategic approach to disputes, delivering practical and succinct advice to reach a resolution as quickly and cost-effectively as possible. Private Wealth disputes are complex, and there are rarely ever two identical claims. They are also, by their nature, highly personal and emotional, and Lisa strives to help make such a difficult time easier for her clients. ‘Lisa Cox is a brilliant lawyer. She is on top of every aspect of a case.' – Legal 500 ‘Lisa Cox is an excellent lawyer who does not sweat the small stuff, remaining focused on getting the best result for her clients.’ – Legal 500
