Fantastic service in purchase of a new build house
Annari, Gabrielle and Jessica provided an excellent service in my purchase of a £1M+ new build house in London. It was a complex purchase because the home was not fully completed, and although it was a freehold, it dealt with service charges related to a community estate. I had a myriad of questions across several threads and the team did a good job of staying organized and following up on everything. They dealt with all the queries and contentions very calmly and professional and helped drive a positive result for me in the purchase. With these complex purchases, it is my understanding that the client also needs to put in leg work to stay organized, and that was certainly the case here as I needed to ensure some things did not get missed. But I considered this expected given the highly complex nature of the work and I had no qualms about it with the team because they were extremely receptive to feedback, and were also highly available, willing to take my calls up to a few times a week when needed to clarify some piece of complex information or to ensure something wasn't missing. I have unfortunately worked with solicitors who get defensive on clarification of item, and that certainly was not the case with this team. They have an excellent mindset to put the client first and were very engaging and approachable. Thank you again to Annari, Gabrielle and Jessica. The only downside to working with HC Law was what I considered their overly stringent and opaque financial due diligence. I personally found it excessive and intrusive. I was told that it is an industry wide requirement but I had different and better experiences with other law firms. This is not a reflection on the individuals named but rather the Financial Directors of HC Law. If you as a client are concerned about intrusiveness on your financial matters, consider defining with HC Law upfront exactly what will be needed for your circumstance and in high degree of detail. As I shared more information, I found that the goal posts kept moving and more was requested. This was an extreme low-light of working with HC Law and I hope they can at least make their requirements fully 100% transparent up front.
