I am a Solicitor in the Education Team. My clients choose me because I am approachable, empathetic, and dedicated. I act only for parents, guardians, carers and young people and I work from our Chelmsford office. I am available on 01245 453803. I chose to be an education solicitor because I enjoy the fulfilment of being able to help and advise individuals with an aim of providing effective resolutions. I maintain excellent client service and meet strict deadlines whilst providing high-quality legal advice that is easily understandable. A key factor in being able to achieve this is my ability to listen and digest the salient information. My experience of practising in education law began as a trainee solicitor in 2016, where I specifically advised parents with disputes relating to the area of special educational needs and disability discrimination. After qualifying as a solicitor, I have had the opportunity to advise local authorities and schools in a range of areas in education law including special educational needs, exclusions and admissions. Since joining Birkett Long I now solely advise parents, guardians, carers and young people. These experiences combined have provided me with a broad and balanced knowledge of this area of law, enabling me to weigh up both sides of an educational issue and suggest solutions in order to reach a resolution between the parties. If required, I have experience in advocacy, particularly involving the First-Tier Tribunal (Special Educational Needs and Disability). I had the privilege to be involved with the Chelmsford Lions and Lioness Clubs, helping them to raise money for good causes and charities, which has included dressing up as a clown in the high street for Children in Need, taking part in charity quiz nights and helping with the Father Christmas Sleigh events. In my spare time, I enjoy playing netball as part of a social league, badminton and having walking adventures with my dog. I also have a keen interest in theatre and musicals.

Amazing support and very quick resolution

I wanted to thank you for all your support and advice. Without your help, we would not be where we are today. There had be virtually no communication from the Local Authority, despite a Tribunal. Your Pre-action protocol letter for Judicial Review, and subsequent emails, ensured that the Local Authority issued an EHCP as per the Tribunal orders.

I obviously hope to not have to use your services again and that the Local Authority will continue with communications. However, should I be required to contact you further, I will have every confidence in you that you will help us reach a speedy resolution. Thank you so much Kimberley.

Tribunal Support

Communication about the process was excellent and the support and guidance given was excellent. I was too invested emotionally and too frustrated to deal with this matter calmly, so to have this service, of someone acting as the family advocate, was greatly appreciated. Kimberley was calm, and very professional. We cannot thank her enough for taking on the burden of fighting our corner.
