Within this role, I work on a broad range of matters, including wills, probate, and Lasting Power of Attorney matters. I also assist John Rouse, a partner in the Private Client team, with clients who have business and agricultural assets. I always knew I wanted a career in law, so I undertook extensive work experience, including placements with the Crown Prosecution Service and the local council’s legal department. However, it was my work experience in a Private Client team that helped me to determine which area of law I would like to specialise in. Following the completion of a law degree at Newcastle University, I began working as a legal secretary whilst studying the Legal Practice Course (LPC). This gave me great insight into the role of a lawyer. I also received an award for achieving the highest LPC grade in my year group. After finishing my training contract in 2020 at a firm in Leeds, I relocated and worked for a Warwickshire firm in their private client department as a solicitor. I then joined Lodders in May 2023. I like my role with Lodders, as it enables me to meet clients, learn more about their circumstances, and offer them friendly, helpful advice during what is likely to be a difficult time for them. Some other aspects of my job that I enjoy are working on technical matters and drafting documents. Those closest to me describe me as friendly, caring, and hard-working. In my spare time, I like to keep active and have completed various challenges, including a team Dragon Boat Race, the Yorkshire Three Peaks Mountain walk, several 10K runs, and the Leeds half marathon.
