Unprofessional service

Extremely disappointed with the service we received from Hunt & Coombs during our house purchase. We had previously used the firm on two occasions, so trusted them to act for us again. Unfortunately, during the purchase of our new home, there appears to have been a major misunderstanding regarding our source of funds. Rather than contacting us or the family member providing the gift to clarify the position, the firm decided they could no longer act for us and also declined the lender’s instructions. This caused huge stress, delay and disruption at a critical point in the transaction, especially as the seller was pushing for completion. In our view, a simple phone call could have resolved the issue, as the funds were gifted and supporting evidence was available. We fully understand that solicitors have strict anti-money laundering and lender obligations, but we felt the matter was handled in a very premature and heavy-handed way, without giving us a fair opportunity to clarify the facts. The situation caused us significant distress and inconvenience, and we are now having to instruct a new solicitor urgently to try and keep the purchase alive. Based on our experience, we would not recommend Hunt & Coombs for conveyancing.

The best, hands down!

I am currently being represented by James Steward in the Conveyancing Department at Hunt and Coombs, and I have been consistently impressed with the exceptional level of expertise, care, and attention he has provided throughout the handling of two property sales. The speed and efficiency with which these transactions have been completed, and how seamlessly everything has gone, has truly exceeded my expectations. I’ve been a client of this firm for years, utilising both of their locations and working with various staff members on both personal and business matters. Time and again, they go above and beyond to deliver outstanding service with minimal fuss. One thing I particularly appreciate is their consistent and transparent approach to billing, which is a rare quality in today’s market. It’s a testament to their professionalism and integrity. My first experience with the firm was in 2013 when I worked with Henry Anstey. Henry was the first solicitor I instructed, and he truly set the bar high. He helped me navigate a complex estate, probate, will and testament setup, and the creation and ongoing management of my trust. Henry's knowledge, dedication, and passion for solving problems made the impossible possible. I am forever grateful to him for his unwavering support over the years. I cannot recommend Hunt and Coombs highly enough. Their professionalism, attention to detail, and commitment to client care make them stand out, and I look forward to continuing to work with them for many years to come.

Slow progress and ignore communications.

Progress and response times are very poor. I was ignored for 3 months despite multiple emails, and had to constantly chase for updates, or nothing happens. This is particularly upsetting given it concerns probate, complete lack of empathy. Trust pilot reviews also share my frustrations.

Making the impossible, possible

Highly recommend these solicitors, especially Claire Hogben and James too. What felt like an endless of no hope and negativity buying our property, Claire made it all work, can't thank her enough, we now have our forever home. We are eternally grateful.
