Abominable - a yeti could have done better!

We paid a premium cost, £2300, for an LPA which took 18 months to be submitted. The whole process was beset with errors, delays, poor communication for what was a standard LPA. Even after a formal complaint where we received apologies and assurances that the service would improve, nothing seemed to change and the same lack of proactive case management continued. We have no evidence to suggest that the LPA would have progressed without our continued chasing of the matter at every stage of the process. It is also worth noting that, in our opinion, many of the five-star reviews may reflect the initial appointment, when everything was explained clearly and professionally. Unfortunately, after we had paid the money, the level of service deteriorated significantly and failed to meet even reasonable expectations. Given the high cost, excessive delays, errors and lack of communication, we would strongly discourage anyone from using this firm.

Great service from start to finish. All questions answered and explained in detail and made it easy to understand. Good friendly service from the moment of contacting them on the telephone, of walking through the door, to leaving. The whole experience leaves you feeling that your needs have been understood and acted upon, with every thing put in order for the future.

Awful service with no one responding to calls or emails

I have been trying to complete my will with Simpsons Solicitors who are part of the Right Legal Group. This has been ongoing for nearly 2 years. There are numerous mistakes in the will (including the spelling of my name) and I have called, emailed, complete the online form and submitted responses to their legal portal with no response I am now having to write to them. I will be raising this with their traded body.

Poor service, constant delays and mistakes

They have been dealing with my parents estate, taken nearly 2 years and still not complete. Constant delays, incompetence, missed money, ignored emails. Absolutely do not use this company, they only make a difficult and stressful situation worse.

I’m writing about my experience dealing with Right Legal Group over the estate of my late aunt, in the hope it helps others. I should say up front that I was not a paying client. I’m a remainder beneficiary under a trust created by my aunt’s Will, and no fees were charged to me. My brother and I first tried to confirm whether the firm was handling the estate in June 2024. Over the following months, we sent multiple emails and made numerous calls. For most of that time, we received no reply. When the firm eventually responded in March 2025, a member of staff confirmed by email that she was managing the matter. Further follow-ups were again met with long silences. After we asked about costs and for proof of authority to act, without an adequate response, I made a formal complaint. The firm’s response, which came after its own stated deadline, acknowledged that a fault in its call handling system had affected our calls, and that the communication we received “fell below the standards we strive to uphold.” It later became clear that the firm had never been appointed as trustee and had no authority to act on the estate. This wasn’t made clear to us until late 2025. During this time, a member of the firm entered my late aunt’s property, and photographs were provided to us. When I reported this to the Solicitors Regulation Authority, their follow-up enquiries found no documentary evidence that authority for the entry was given. The firm attributed it to human error and miscommunication. The SRA decided the matter did not meet its threshold for regulatory action. The firm offered to prepare a Deed of Retirement and Appointment free of charge, a service normally priced at £250 plus VAT. We felt accepting this would tie us further to a firm whose communication had been so poor, so we declined and pursued other options to get the trust properly administered. I also raised my concerns with the Legal Ombudsman. They determined that an authorised person had already offered fair and reasonable redress in relation to the circumstances, which is not my view. I challenged both the SRA’s and the Ombudsman’s decisions, but the outcomes did not change. My aunt made her Will over twelve years ago, through a different law firm which later closed. Right Legal Group took over that firm’s Will storage, including my aunt’s Will. They did not contact us as beneficiaries; every exchange began with us chasing them. If this resembles your circumstances, I’d suggest finding out where you stand legally and getting clear written confirmation of exactly who is acting, in what capacity, and what any costs will be before relying on anyone from the RLG. In our experience, the firm was not transparent and did not communicate clearly, and this left us confused and suspicious and caused months of wasted time and distress.

If I could leave 0 stars I would. I have never come across such an incompetent firm. Staff drop like flies, there is 0 communication and they take no accountability for their mistakes. I thought we were finally done with them but now we've found a spelling typo on the grant of probate which again, they are trying to pass the blame onto someone else. I'd steer well clear.

Great Service. Finally got around to making a will and chose a local solicitors, Simpsons in Kingswood. We were assigned Ali, who was both friendly and professional. He explained all the salient aspects of the will process, which ensured we were provided with a comprehensive will that has given us complete peace of mind. I would highly recommend Simpsons Solicitors.

Please under any circumstances DO NOT use this company 3 years on and still waiting for P,O,A to get sorted. They keep coming back after a while asking for more money each time they make a mistake!

Utterly abhorrent

Nothing but failed promises, complete lack of communication, incorrect documentation issued and life altering delays caused simply requesting our own documentation. Do not even consider using them. They may be fine taking your money when setting up initial paperwork but down the line they are nothing but a headache, when already trying to deal with incredibly stressful situations.

Very pleasant experience. The young gentleman explained everything clearly and carefully, being absolutely certain my husband and I understood everything that was said. We will certainly continue to use them, and would feel confident in recommending them to others.
