Never again! My original solicitor left without warning or explanation (rarely a good sign), replaced by a less-qualified conveyancer. It all went badly downhill: I endured weeks of silence and no progress; a key document had a serious error, risking a tax liability and a fine if hadn’t noticed it; the completion timescale was ridiculously naïve and unrealistic. I lodged two formal complaints, both of which were upheld by the firm. At least that process worked – but they’ve probably had lots of practice. True, I received a significant fee reduction as a result (although no more than I deserved for the needless personal stress, inconvenience and cost). I wasn’t trying to save money – I just wanted a professional service. Many other solicitors offer that, in Brighton and beyond. Daisy Tester worked with efficiency, clarity, skill and compassion on my mother's will which had complications. She provided me and my brother with clear information about a possible contestation, gave us plenty of time to deal with the matter in the way that suited us and did not pressurise us into any expensive decisions. What a horrible experience. “You will pay a bit more but you will get the service”, they said, well we did and we didn’t. Supposedly competent in dealing with ‘Lifetime Mortgages’ we went to this Firm for that reason. We should have realised how bad things were going to be, when the first batch of forms and paperwork were sent out to someone else in error. We then endured months of poor communication by inexperienced staff, and to be honest at times what felt like incompetence. The considerable stress of moving home was only compounded by this Firm. Never again!
