I was very disappointed with my experience with Excello Law and David Greenhalgh (Employment Partner) I approached the firm for specialist employment-law advice concerning my position as a contractor. I was surprised by how limited the solicitor’s knowledge of employment law as it applied to contracting appeared to be. More concerning was the change in advice. During two telephone calls, I specifically questioned whether there were genuinely grounds worth pursuing. I did not want to incur further legal fees if there was no realistic pathway. I was repeatedly given the impression that there was and agreed to further work on that basis. However, when it came to actually developing that potential pathway, I received an email saying that the solicitor did not think there was a viable way forward after all. That left me extremely dissatisfied. I had specifically raised this question before incurring further fees, so the reversal made me feel that I had been encouraged to continue spending money on advice that ultimately went nowhere. There was then a dispute over the bill. The solicitor initially sought payment for three hours of work; after I challenged the amount, this was reduced to two hours. I have now paid the principal invoice in full, although I still believe I received very poor value for money. I paid the invoice late because I have been out of work for six months. Despite the underlying dispute over the fees and the fact that the principal invoice has now been paid in full, the firm is pursuing additional interest and late-payment charges. Overall, I found the experience frustrating and disappointing. I approached a specialist employment lawyer because I wanted clear, informed advice before spending money pursuing something further. Instead, I felt the advice changed materially after I had incurred additional fees, and I would not use the firm again.
Horrendous , at the start I thought that they where great helpful and know what they are doing then it soon became clear that I was just not important it took 3 years of mainly me chasing and losing everything due to not even poor advise but NO advise. I had no guidance and the comment to just sign and get it over with as it’s been going on to long made me feel like a complete burden, so I did and am now paying for it.
We have recently sold our business with the help of Excello Law Chester, this transaction was handled for us by Ian Vickery. Ian was exceptional he kept us informed every step of the way and even stepped in to assist the solicitor who was acting for our buyer, we cant thank him enough. We would thoroughly recommend Ian to anyone out there thinking of selling their business.
I've used Richard from leicester office previously. And I have followed him to Excello. By far the best solicitor I have worked with ever. Can complete a property deal with lightning speed. They aren't the cheapest but are definately the best! Oh and unlike the other "cheap" solicitors I've used in the past, these guys fees dont change from what's agreed.
