I recently decided to take the step of getting an LPA in place, as I don’t have a large family, and should anything happen to me, it would fall to my son to make decisions on my behalf. I want that to be as clear and easy for him as possible. Michael Feakes came highly recommended, so we arranged a meeting to get the process under way. Michael explained the whole process, and what the two documents (health and financial) cover. The whole process was very straightforward and Michael explained it all clearly, so I felt I really understood the whole thing. Now I know, whatever happens in the future, my son will have all the correct powers and documentation, and at least won’t have to worry about extra and complicated legal processes. I really would recommend working with Michael, and not delaying getting your LPA.

The young man assigned to me was pleasant and tried to be helpful taking notes as we went along. However, the first thing I was concerned about was he was initially trying to charge me for an hour and a half's consultation when I had been there barely 45 minutes. There was a delay in appropriate action being taken to resolve the matter I had come about as I had not been requested at the initial meeting to bring additional ID with me, which could have speeded things up considerably, I was just emailed the firms terms and conditions, plus a reiteration of what the solicitor thought I had said, some of which was incorrect and would needed amending. I had been promised a draught by the end of the week to send to a company I had been dealing with but this couldn't happen because of the delay in asking for ID etc. I rang in order to address this and eventually was contacted by an assistant who at best sounded disinterested. So my overall experience with Feakes was not what I had hoped for.
Dear Jane, thank you for your review, although we do not really understand it. While the initial fee we quoted for our meeting with you was incorrect, we swiftly rectified this and the fee you were charged was correct. On the same day, we sent you our engagement letter and asked for copies of your ID, in line with our compliance policy. You signed the engagement letter, thereby acknowledging and accepting our terms and the information provided in the letter. We carried out further work the following day, but unfortunately we could not complete it by the end of the week as the lawyer involved had to take unexpected personal leave (as was explained to you via telephone). You then emailed the lawyer (on the Saturday) thanking him for seeing you and saying that you had decided to resolve matters in another way.
