Fantastic Solicitor’s for moving home

We contacted several solicitors for the purchase or our new home. Duffield were the most responsive yet not the most expensive.
Steph was amazing, unlike solicitors we've used in the past, she kept us informed at every step of the process, letting us know what was happening and updating timescales as necessary. She set realistic time frames and kept us in the loop, even letting us know who to contact if we needed to whilst she had a day off.
The phones were always answered and emails and letters from Lorna were prompt and professional.
They managed to help us complete our purchase within 6 weeks of engaging them.
Thank you to Steph, Lorna and Danielle for their professional and efficient approach!

House sale and subsequent house purchase

I used Duffield Harrison after a personal recommendation from my son who had used them previously.
I was not disappointed.
Their fees were very competitive and their communication was excellent.
Most communication was by email but whenever I needed to speak to someone I could always contact someone by phone.
My house sale went through seamlessly and though my house purchase was more complicated the required work was done very diligently and quickly allowing me to take advantage of the Stamp Duty holiday which I hadn't expected.
Thanks to Lorna Rooke and Stephanie Wade.

Contact

Contacted the Hoddesson branch via phone on 3 occasions over a 5 day period , each time was promised that someone would get back to me, no response, no return phone call. Made to feel ‘not worthy’ on the 2 follow up phone calls

Handling of deceased estate

I would like to say how extremely impressed with the care and efficiency of Miss Sheldon Burgher, Solicitor with Duffield and Harrison Hertford, in renewing our Wills and setting up Power of Attorney but most of all her handling my dear sister’s estate, which I might say was not an easy one.
Sheldon answered all questions I had in an easy-to-understand way, she was also very supportive when an unexpected situation arose and dealt with it quickly and professionally. Thank you Sheldon I will certainly use your services in the future. Rita Dixon.

Not helpful

We were looking for legal help in what should have been a straight forward house purchase situation. We chose Duffield Harrison as they were recommended and a 2 minute walk from my mother's house, which they were made very aware of, so that papers etc could be signed in person rather than having to deal with technology and post etc. This should have also saved time. This was was repeatedly overlooked, ignored, forgotten. Papers were delayed, not sent in full and deadlines missed, to the point where the sale almost fell through.
The administration at the front desk was helpful as they could be, but the legal support, attention to detail and accuracy was very far from value for money.

Great experience conveyancing.

Many thanks to Zaida who completed our house purchase swiftly and smoothly and even attempted to help us with issues we were having with the sale of our flat (via a different solicitor). Easy communication via email. Reasonable prices too. Would recommend.

Biased and unfair representation

Recommended by our housing developer, Biased and unfair representation. Failed to make us aware of clauses that have affected the value of our property. Rude unhelpful responses which are in favour of developer rather than providing helpful advice as the customer.

Not impressed with the service received.

My son was a first time buyer and as such I feel that he should have had more communication from the solicitor dealing with his purchase. It has been a long time since we bought and sold a house so our advice was out dated and this is why you employ a solicitor to guide you through the process.
He was forever emailing the solicitor on his flat purchase as he heard nothing and everything seemed to be last minute. When one letter was received it had incorrect dates and addresses on it. One email said the moving date would be in the month of July the next thing it was the last Monday in June so rush rush. Paperwork had to be got back to him by return and the fact that he missed out on £1200 on the Governments First time purchase scheme because the solicitor did not inform him he had to close his ISA before the date of exchange and have the certificate with him by this date. I find extremely poor service and hence why I'm writing this review.

Excellent service

Thank you very much to Duffield Harrison LLP for helping us to buy our first home during a difficult year. They helped navigate the documents required. We was advised by many friends and family that this will be highly stressful and expect lots of problems yet this never happened. Duffield Harrison LLP made the process very simple, easy to understand and personal, we appreciate all the hard work they did on our behalf. Not only was it a great service, the price was extremely reasonable. Cannot fault this company and would recommend to everyone.
