In my experience, additional work was carried out without my authorisation, resulting in unexpected costs. When I raised concerns about this, rather than addressing the issues constructively, I received threats of legal action from Chris Hugo, a Partner at the firm. I found this approach to be intimidating, unprofessional, and wholly inappropriate in the context of a solicitor-client relationship. I instructed this firm in good faith and expected transparency, clear communication, and a professional response to legitimate concerns. Unfortunately, that was not my experience. Based on my experience, I would not use this firm again and would recommend that anyone seeking professional, client-focused legal representation considers alternative solicitors.

I instructed Chris in relation to a complex employment dispute involving redundancy, discrimination and whistleblowing issues. From our first meeting, it was clear that he is a highly experienced employment lawyer with an excellent ability to identify the key legal issues and develop a practical strategy. One of the things that impressed me most was his ability to spot important aspects of my case that I had not fully appreciated myself. For example, Chris was able to identify the potential whistleblowing elements and explain how they fitted into the wider legal picture. His advice was thoughtful, commercially realistic and always focused on the strongest points of the case. Throughout the process, Chris was kind, patient and empathetic. Employment disputes can be extremely stressful, particularly when health issues are involved, but he always took the time to listen and explain matters clearly. He was highly responsive and consistently came back to me promptly whenever I had questions or concerns. Most importantly, I always felt that I was in very safe hands. Chris combined strong legal expertise with sound judgement and genuine care for his client. I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone seeking advice on employment law matters.
