I contracted the services of John Hirst, of Laker Legal Solicitors in September 2024 and our contract terminated in September 2026. Throughout the two years that John represented me I found him to be professional, polite and attentive to my case. He always responded promptly to queries I had and was quick to update me on proceedings regarding my case. I always felt that John was working in my best interests. On more than one occasion he advised me against pursuing a course of action I was considering because it would end up costing me too much. Thanks to John’s honesty and integrity my case, which could have dragged on, was wrapped up in a timely fashion and I have been able to move on with my life. I would thoroughly recommend John Hirst to anyone who is looking for a compassionate and dedicated family solicitor to guide them through what is inevitably a traumatic experience.

I have just bought a house with the support of Laker Legal Solicitors' conveyancing team. Jess Blacow & Rebecca Lord dealt with my case and I have nothing but words of appraisal for all their hard work especially as the case was slightly more complicated than usual. They conducted all thorough checks from start to finish, and always ensured any queries of mine were dealt with. There were moments when the case got tricky due to the sellers being obstructive which was made worse by estate agents constantly putting unnecessary pressure on me to speed up the process without clarifying my doubts. However, both Jess & Rebecca dealt with that effectively and assertively and ensured that progress was made at the right speed once all parties were satisfied. I would like to specially acknowledge the extreme hard work of Rebecca, as she communicated regularly and kept me informed regarding any issues or changes in the process. Buying your first home can be stressful, but she provided me with full reassurance at every stage and was very supportive when I had a query or wanted to double check anything. I would definitely recommend the Laker Legal Conveyancing team after their brilliant work for house purchase support.

I received excellent advice from this firm in connection with my divorce and separation from my Husband. The divorce was challenging due to overseas property and other issues but my Solicitor was very understanding, calm and knowledgable. Thank you Laker Legal, I am truly grateful for your assistance and shall return in the future should I need legal services again.

I wouldn't recommend this firm at all for their conveyancing. My case was unfortunately assigned to Jessica Blacow, who was clearly not up to the job. She spent six weeks sending emails to the wrong email address for my buyer's solicitor, without ever questioning why she did not get a reply. She held up the entire chain - I had to field so many calls from my estate agent querying the hold up. The company then incredibly charged me extra because of this! It was extremely hard to get hold of anyone at the company most of the time - sometimes I was told solicitors were working from home and there were no direct lines to them, including the director Stephen Ogden. On exchange day, Jessica decided to leave the office at 3.30pm before exchange had happened, which made the day even more stressful. Furthermore, do bear in mind they are based in Lancaster and do not have any presence anywhere else, as they falsely claim on their website.

John is the best solicitor in town. Very friendly, great advice and a top bloke.

Great service, professional, understanding and got the job done inspite of outside factors delaying things. Always available to talk too or email and responded within 12 hrs in most cases. I was dubious about using an 'online' type service but they were really good, and when it did get called to court, locally to me,can to represent me and didn't charge for travel. I would highly recommend

10/10 guided me through my whole house purchase process. Would highly recommend.

I used Laker Legal for what should have been a straightforward divorce that became quite contentious. Throughout the whole ordeal, I felt very supported by Richard. He was always quick to respond, incredibly thorough, and gave me realistic advice about the likely outcomes and options available to me. I was very impressed with how he handled the other party despite their best efforts to create further conflict and unnecessarily drag out the proceedings. Richard remained professional, calm yet firmly in my corner throughout. I would highly recommend Richard and his team to anyone dealing with complex family proceedings.

Laker legal solicitors dealt with my mortgage which was a complicated case and caused me a lot of stress. They made it happen as they managed to complete the whole process and because of that I am forever grateful!
