Cobleys took on a data breach case for me on a CFA. (no win no fee). After many blunders by Cobleys, too many to list, Cobleys tried to get me to settle for a ridiculously low fee.
It transpired that the claim was suitable for the Small Claims Court and Cobleys were aware that had it proceeded to a hearing, they would not be in a position to recover their costs (Legal costs are not generally available in the Small Claims Court).
Rather than act in my best interest, they tried to pressure me to settle for a value that was a fraction of the expected value on the basis the low out of court settlement including some legal fees.
Cobleys failed to 'Act in my best interest' as per the CFA. Ironically, Cobleys were supposedly acting for me in a Data Breach Claim, Cobleys sent copies of my file to an unauthorised person, without my knowledge or permission.
My case handler, named Keith, who I believed was a Solicitor, turned out he was neither a solicitor or even a paralegal. Just an office worker. He was supposedly supervised by the Head of the Civil Team, named Hayley. When Keith sent an erroneous and 'detrimental' email to the defendants, I queried if Hayley had 'supervised' this massive error, Cobleys have refused to answer leading me to believe that no one is supervising office staff acting as solicitors.
