A close friend of mine, now in her 70s, has been waiting over three years to receive the inheritance left to her by her blood aunt. What should have been a straightforward probate matter has been unnecessarily drawn out, causing significant emotional and financial distress.
In cases such as this—where the estate is uncomplicated—the entire process should typically be resolved within 6 to 12 months. Instead, it appears that delays have been allowed to persist without justification, raising serious concerns about whether this is a case of inefficiency or intentional obstruction—perhaps with a view to prolong the process for additional fees.
This level of delay is wholly unacceptable, particularly given the age and vulnerability of the beneficiary. I will now be stepping in to help my friend recover the funds she is legally entitled to and will be making formal complaints to both the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) and the Financial Ombudsman Service.
In our experience, the conduct in this matter has been appalling—a textbook example of how not to treat a client or a grieving family member. I would strongly advise anyone considering using this firm to avoid them at all costs.
