I wouldn’t use this law firm again, ever!!! We used this law firm to deal with my late sister’s estate after she passed. Her property was sold and all assets gathered so all that was left to do was to distribute her estate as per her wishes. That was December 2024. However, distributions did not get finished until May 2026. The solicitors at SHL dealing with her file kept changing causing long delays. Initially, we had two solicitors handling her file, Kirsty and Carol, but when one left the firm and the other was ill, nobody from SHL took over my late sister’s file for months. Nobody was communicating with us and our emails were not being answered.Eventually, in July 2025 we were assigned two new solicitors. We had a Teams meeting with them and Gee Kaur began to make progress with the estate.In September 2025 we received final accounts and distributions began. We thought we were near completion. Again,however, in November all communication from SHL stopped.Yet again it took 2 months for SHL to contact us.Gee too had also left the firm. In January Howard Nulty said in a short, curt email that Gee had left the firm, he was dealing with the file now and his fee was £400 per hour, considerably more than agreed fee of £220. He gave no apology for lack of communication or long delay. When we disagreed with his fee, the file was passed back to the first solicitor that was dealing with the file over a year earlier, Carol Ashton. In short, expect long delays, poor communication, changing fees and arrogance. Don’t expect communication, an apology or a solicitor that will see distributions of an estate through to the end. My advice…. find a different firm. Unfortunately I cannot give no stars with my review.
