Brethertons made an error in my Consent Order which cost me £84k.
I have a history with Brethertons from 2020 when Financial Agreement Consent Order was written. Brethertons then helped me with a D11 to address the Error in court with my ex husband during 2022 and 2023. I addressed the Error in court with a ‘slip rule’ which was not the correct way to to address the Error. At no time did Brethertons tell me the ‘slip rule’ would not be appropriate in this case and it went downhill from there. I expected Brethertons to extend client care and my best interests but Brethertons then told me I had a special arrangement. My best interests were not considered as we had different goals. Brethertons wanted to avoid culpability and have done so.
I made a formal complaint to Brethertons which was addressed in house and they found themselves to be not responsible for any wrongdoing.
Legal advice has told me that my Ex was lucky and got away with the payment and that Brethertons were responsible.

No misinformation was given to Brethertons in the writing of the Order, it was an easy mistake to make but the cost to me was great.

Brethertons have now notified their insurer and asked me to seek legal advice, they also offered me £500 for not letting me know earlier, at the time that I actually needed legal advice as they were not legal advice, which I did not know.

Brethertons have avoided negotiating compensation for the Error because that would be admitting to the Error. To seek legal advice and pursue this Error would cost me thousands and Brethertons have gaslighted me and brushed this under the carpet as they know that the legal system is expensive and I cannot pursue them.

My experience with Brethertons has been devastating, financially and mentally. They have got away with it but this type of deception from a law firm is very telling concerning the way they do business. Brethertons recently wrote that they support my GP concerning my mental health

Brethertons Rugby Branch dealt with our late fathers estate and steered the family through the difficult process in an efficient, approachable and professional manner. Our thanks go to Annabel Burchett for answering any enquiries we had about the process quickly ,this was a difficult time for our family but we were able to put our trust in Annabel. Also, thank you to Gemma Drakeford for your dealings with us, your approach also put us at ease.

Brethertons were instructed to apply on our behalf for probate of my late father. From start to finish this has been a very smooth process and the Associate that dealt with our account was excellent in terms of communication and speed of actions. Charges were clear and all actions acknowledged.

I am happy with the service provided by Brethertons but on balance think that any comments for publication are best left for when the current Consent Order being drafted by Brethertons (224074-00003 - 10/11/21) is ready as that is a more substantial piece of business, and because I will be interested to see whether Wikivorce's undertaking to request that this case is prioritised/fast tracked is reflected in the speed with which the matter is concluded.
