Housing Trainee Solicitor

I am a Trainee Solicitor in the Housing Department at Duncan Lewis Solicitors. I currently work under the supervision of solicitor, Daljit Singh Shina, alongside a team of solicitors and caseworkers. As part of the housing team, I am instructed on a variety of publicly and privately funded social housing matters concerning challenges to housing authorities, such as homelessness (including reviews and appeals to the County Court), suitability review cases, housing litigation matters, eviction and possession proceedings, disrepair, harassment and injunction proceedings and judicial review applications. Through my experience at Duncan Lewis Solicitors, I have been able to advise and assist clients with various different funding requirements to ensure they can benefit from our legal services. I have supported clients who require legal aid funding, as well as advising and assisting clients who have opted for a Conditional Fee Agreement (“no-win, no-fee”). I am committed to having a collaborative approach when working with all clients and other stakeholders to help resolve disputes and achieve the best possible outcome for our clients. Through my work, I have had the opportunity to build relationships with vulnerable clients who have physical or learning disabilities, mental health conditions and clients who are victims of domestic violence or abuse. I have had the privilege of supporting the Housing Law Solicitors within my team at mortgage and possession hearings through the Housing Possession Court Duty Scheme in London. Through the experience I have learned the essential skill of quickly assimilating information to identify key legal issues and clarifying uncertainty through eliciting information. My experience at the Housing Possession Court Duty Scheme has improved my knowledge of relevant jurisdiction, law and practice and I am encouraged to continue demonstrating an ability and willingness to learn and develop professionally.

Housing Appeal Won – Thank You Miranda and Toby”

I cannot thank Miranda, my solicitor, and Toby Venhegan, my barrister, enough for their incredible support throughout my housing appeal. They were professional, knowledgeable, and dedicated from start to finish, always keeping me informed and fighting on my behalf. Thanks to their hard work and expertise, we won the appeal. I am truly grateful for everything they did and would highly recommend them to anyone needing legal representation.

Angel Miranda Quashie

Miranda Quashie, Manjinder Kaur Atwal and Daljit Singh Shina was an amazing team when it came to my housing challenges. I'm was mainly dealing with Miranda, she was kind, patient, understanding, professional and did her upmost best always. Even when i was stressed and worried she would reassure me that she is working hard and that as soon as she hears something she will update, which she did. Thank you Miranda, myself and my daughter have been homeless for yes and you came and changed our life around, now we are in our beautiful new home, and we are both happy, you are truly an angel 😇
