Charmaine has over 15 years’ experience of family law, and currently specialises in private law proceedings. She previously specialised in public law proceedings and has a wealth of experience in dealing with cases involving contested, fact-finding and final hearings. Charmaine represents parents, children and other family members, and undertakes the majority of her advocacy, meaning that she appears in court on a regular basis. She has experience of representing parties via the Official Solicitor and has also appeared in the High Court Charmaine’s current work involves advising on disputes between parents and/or family members relating to who a child should live with, how much time a child should spend with them, when they should start school and the school they should attend, whether a child’s surname should be changed and whether a parent can relocate (in and outside the UK) with a child. 🗂 She is also experienced in dealing with domestic abuse and emergency applications, including Non-Molestation Orders, Occupation Orders and Prohibited Steps Orders. Charmaine is a member of The Law Society’s Children Law Accreditation Scheme and Resolution - first for family law, and strongly believes in a conflict-free approach, supporting clients to reach a settlement out of court, where possible. Outside of her fee earning work, Charmaine is a long-standing member of our Associates Academy and a mentor. She is also heavily involved in marketing and business development activities. Charmaine’s dedication to helping families to resolve issues is reflected in a recent client review which said that she had been their “sound board” and had gone “above and beyond”.
