Philip Mahoney has extensive experience in all aspects of criminal work, from motoring offences to high level Crown Court cases, including drug conspiracies, firearms offences, sexual offences and homicide. He represents clients from the police station through to the Crown Court. He is an experienced trial advocate, acting for both adults and youth defendants for offences such as drugs, violence, theft fraud and sex offence trials. He has extensive experience in cross-examining vulnerable and youth witnesses, conducting multi-handed trials. Philip obtained his higher rights of audience in 2017 and has advocated in the Crown Court for clients charged with Conspiracy to Supply Class A drugs, Wounding with Intent, Arson and Grooming. He has drafted and submitted legal arguments in order to vacate guilty pleas, exclude prosecution evidence, bad character, fitness to plead and applications to dismiss a case for the lack of evidence. He has also appeared before the Court of Appeal. He has a particular interest in the technical aspects of law, and his draughtsmanship on skeleton arguments, bail applications, bad character applications etc have been noted with approval by both District and Crown Court Judges.
