I am a Specialist Clinical Negligence Solicitor with a specific interest in birth and maternal injury. I am based at the Duncan Lewis Solicitors, London Office and I work alongside my Director, Renu Daly. I am based in the London Office, I am happy to travel to meet clients at home. Supporting those who need my assistance is the key motivator and at the heart of all my clinical negligence work. I am the only practising Midwife and Solicitor in the UK and was also a Registered Nurse from 1988 until 2005 with a qualification in tropical medicine and infectious diseases. I qualified as a Solicitor in 2008 and have a varied career combining both my professions as a Clinical Negligence Solicitor and a practising Midwife. I have and continue to be an Expert Midwife for the Court since 2016, having undertaken the Foundation Course with the Academy of Experts in 2015. I have also worked as an Expert Midwife for the Coroners at Inquest. I am passionate about patient care, have qualified, and have continued to practise as a Midwife since 1989. My in-depth knowledge and understanding of this area of medicine, medical policies and protocol provides my clients with a distinct advantage in my investigation of their claims and enables me to be able to provide them with a true insight into the treatment and care they received from a very early stage. Legal Experience Experienced in investigating maternal injury or birth injury, as well as claims involving misdiagnosed cancer cases, bladder injury cases and fatal cases including inquests, wrongful birth cases, head injuries, spinal injuries and renal cases. Other areas of interest and specialism include surgical errors, misdiagnosis, and failures to refer patients by their GPs. I am experienced in attending and preparing matters for the High Court and the Court of Appeal. I have successfully secured Community Legal Service Exceptional Funding for legal representation at the Inquest. This was achieved through my preparation of key supportive documents which evidenced a significant, wider public interest, to enable the Coroner to carry out an effective investigation into the death, as required by Article 2 of the European Convention on Human Rights (‘the right to life’) Key Work Assisted in an advisory role with the publication of a Government 'White-Paper' on Preconceptual Care for the Seven Seas pharmaceutical company in 2013. Worked with the Hip Dysplasia Institute to launch the ‘Is Your Baby Sitting Comfortably’ educational campaign in 2012. This campaign empowered women to help make informed decisions and reduce any potential risks of hip dysplasia in infants and become aware of the delayed diagnosis of this condition in babies Co-authored the 'My Pregnancy' DK Book, published in December 2011 Worked with Dettol in an advisory role as their Expert Midwife in their National ‘Mission For Health Campaign’ launched in 2011; Worked with the British Coffee Association analysing new research in pregnancy & postnatal period, 2008 – 2010
